The Rock and the River

The Rock and The River

How many years of pain

the rock and river have seen,

what once was a clean world

now destroyed and slain.

They sit and watch though centuries of growth

of these unique and selfish creatures and begin to take note.

The sky, the ground, and the oceans of this world, infested

with human life, while nature continues being molested,

But humans will grow to become wiser and bitter

while nature will continue to sit and watch,

like the rock and the river.

  1. Dear Deebaj,

This poem, though short, is beautiful. I admire how you personified the river because it made me feel sad for rivers because all they do is sit there and let the water wash over them. It’s as if no one really looks at them or cares about them; however, this poem serves to the beauty, elegance, and grace of a river.

One thing I could offer for growth would be adding more length to the poem because it would truly elevate this piece and take it to the next level. You could do this by expanding more on the imagery and by going more in depth. Thank you for sharing your words!

    Kind Regards,

    Victoria 🙂
